Kat’s — Green Cove Springs, Florida

Old Florida warmth before the Space Coast — Green Cove Springs hospitality with January sunshine.

Green Cove Springs carries history in its bones — mineral springs era, river-town bones, Florida before theme-park mythology. Kat’s Host spot felt like being folded into that continuity: personal, unhurried, January-green in a way Iowa wasn’t.

We thawed, literally and figuratively. Shorts appeared. Flip-flops escaped the basement bin of the trailer. The Basecamp became a solar oven in the best sense.

River air, Spanish moss nearby, conversations about where we’d been and where the coast was calling. Kat’s set the tone for a Florida run that would get louder — in a good way — soon enough.

Silver Trekker verdict: Gentle Florida entry. Old-school charm, modern RV welcome.
