Savannah, Georgia
Southeast · Silver Trekker
Savannah rewards travelers who camp just outside the historic district and Uber in—or in Doug’s case, bike in with Marla on the handlebar basket for photo stops. They stayed at a shady RV resort twenty minutes south, where live oaks dripped moss over the Basecamp.
They walked Forsyth Park, toured a home with a scandalous portrait over the fireplace, and ate shrimp and grits on a brick patio. Marla declared Savannah “Iowa polite, but with ghosts and better architecture.”
On the way out they stopped at a farmers market for honey and boiled peanuts. A Georgia peach ruined them for grocery-store fruit forever.
Silver Trekker verdict: Culture, food, and shade—stage nearby, explore on foot, and save room for dessert.
